Holiday Gift Guide His and Hers Kitchen Tools and Gadgets

Looking for stocking stuffer gifts for your foodie friends? John and I created this list to show what kitchen tools and gadgets we can’t live without.

Before I even asked John for his list of favorite kitchen tools and gadgets, I could almost pick exactly which ones he would list. Cooking together makes it easy to know what your significant other reaches for first when putting a meal together. Though his list and mine don’t really overlap, we all love everything that we’ve been able to put in our kitchen over the past few years. This list isn’t to say that girls don’t love a good carrot peeler. Duh.

Both lists contain Amazon affiliate links (I receive a kickback from your purchases) but you can find all of these products at your favorite kitchen supply stores such as Crate & Barrel, Sur La Table and Williams-Sonoma. Or Walmart.

John’s list:

Trademark Titan Peeler Plus Julienne Tool and Slicing Board - This was actually a gift from my friends Tamre and Carla when I first showed a big interest in cooking. They are durable and not flimsy – cheap ones will make you feel like you don’t have a good hold on the peeler. Titan does the job right.

Fox Run Bacon Press - Cooking bacon in a skillet for sandwiches? A bacon press will keep it from curling up and cooking unevenly.

Cuisinart CTG-00-BG Boxed Grater - Cheese grated off the block is so much better than the shredded stuff you buy at the store. It’s also nice for slices you’d put on a sandwich.

Nordic Ware 2-Burner Nonstick Reversible Grill Griddle, 20 by 10-3/4 Inch - Sandwiches, steaks, burgers, pancakes, you name it and we’ve probably cooked it on the griddle. It’s great for getting those grill marks in the dead of winter.

KitchenAid Cook’s Series Stainless Steel Meat Thermometer - John always teases me for making sure that chicken is cooked to 165. He’s very concerned about it, so I joke that he loves his meat thermometer so he knows for sure if the chicken is “done.”

My list:

Ozeri Touch Professional Digital Kitchen Scale (11 lb Edition), Tempered Glass in Elegant Black - Get a scale without the bowl, it’s easier when you need to weigh large items and want to use your own bowl.

Norpro Mandoline Slicer Grater with Guard - Potatoes, cucumbers, eggplant, onions – slice them to perfection in no time! A mandoline is so much easier than trying to get perfectly even slices with a knife.

Wilton Candy Thermometer - This comes in handy for heating oil for frying in a dutch oven or making jams (since I don’t claim to make candy).

Fox Run 5-Piece Stainless Steel Biscuit Cutter Set - I prefer to bake my own biscuits and sometimes I like to play with their sizes, making big ones and small ones in the same batch. Biscuit cutters really are better than using a plastic or glass cup. It makes a difference in how they rise!

Pyrex Prepware 2-Cup Measuring Cup, Clear with Red Measurements - Both the 2-cup and the 4-cup have a spot in the cabinet.

I’ll be putting together more holiday gift guides this season – one for my favorite kitchen appliances and “toys” I’ve had fun experimenting with this year. What would you add to this list? Leave a comment and let me know!
